1. Algeti National Park
Algeti National Park is located in southeast Georgia, about 60 km west of the capital city of Tbilisi, which is located along the southern slopes of the Thiralati ridge. The park was built under Soviet rule in 1965, as the easternmost spruce tree nature reserve in the Caucasus.
2. Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park
Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is located west of the capital Tbilisi, in the ecological zone of forests in the Caucasus. This park is one of the largest parks in the country and covers 851 square kilometers - more than one percent of the country's total area. It was established in 1995 and officially inaugurated in 2001, and soon developed into an extensive tourist infrastructure, thanks to the landscapes, historical monuments, rich vegetation and other beauty that can be found here.
3. Kintrishi National Park
Kintrishi National Park is a protected reserve located on a riverbed of the same name. The park was established in 1959 in order to preserve the unique flora and fauna in its vicinity. In addition, archeological excavations uncovered ancient pre-Christian sites in large areas here.
4. Kolkheti National Park
Kolkheti National Park is located in western Georgia, east of the port town of Poti which lies on the shores of the Black Sea. The park was established between 1998 and 1999 as part of the integrated coastal management project of the Global Environment Fund and the World Bank; It covers an area of 289,400 acres with a breathtaking view, and within it, you can also find the beautiful Paliastomi Lake.
5. Lagodekhi National Park
Lagodekhi National Park is located in the eastern part of the country, close to the southern border with Russia and the northern border with Azerbaijan. The park covers 60,410 acres and has preserved a wide variety of flora and fauna since 1912 when it was under the protection of the Russian Empire.
6. Mtirala National Park
Mtirala National Park is a protected area in western Georgia, near the Black Sea, east of Batumi. The park, which covers 38790.6028 acres, contains a wide variety of flora and fauna, and many animals including bears, wild boars, toads, frogs, salamanders, eagles, owls and more. The name of the park is derived from the word "cry" in Georgia, because Mount Mtirala is one of the wettest areas in the country, and the amount of precipitation it has annually reaches 4,520 mm.
7. Tbilisi National Park
Tbilisi National Park is located north of the capital city of Georgia, after which it is named. This park was established in 1973 on the basis of the closed Saguramo National Reserve founded in 1946, actually making it one of the oldest parks in the country. The vast area of the park, about 243 square kilometers, is mostly covered by oak trees, white and ash, and many wild animals, such as deer, bears, fox, jackals, etc.
8. Tusheti National Park
Tusheti National Park is one of eight new protected areas approved by the Georgian Parliament in 2003, with the Global Environment Fund and the World Bank also part of this approval process. The park is located in the northeast of the country on the border with Russia, where you can find many pine and birch groves, along with various animal species such as tigers, bears, falcons, eagles, goats, wolves and more.
9. Vashlovani National Park
Vashlovani National Park is located in the southeastern part of Georgia, close to the border with Azerbaijan. The park was first established as a reserve in 1935 to preserve the shallow forests in its area, and in 2003 its area was expanded to 85 square kilometers and was officially declared the Vashlovani National Park. The park’s area is characterized by dry climates, desert vegetation, semi-arid forests and in the winter months, there are huge floods on the magnificent plains of its territory.
