Director Reema Kagti also says, “Mine would be a fictional take on what actually happened. The game of hockey would feature prominently in the plot. But there will also be a strong human drama playing at the forefront. And it wouldn’t be just the Olympics victory in 1948 we will be looking at. Gold will look at 12 crucial years in India’s history.”



The film has Akshay blissfully playing the captain of a hockey team. Earlier, a report had stated a source as saying, “Akshay needn’t have learnt hockey. He is super sporty by nature. Also, he won’t be shown so much on the field. This is not going to be so much about the game of hockey itself, like Chak De India was. It is going to be about what went on behind the scenes, how Akshay as the captain of the team prepared the team to the spectacular victory.”

One hears that for ‘Gold’, he won’t only learn hockey but will also age by at least 10 years during the course of the narration. Directed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, the film also stars Sunny Kaushal and Amit Sadh. The film is scheduled to release on 15th August 2018.
