
Since 1979, the Irish women are securing their right to enroll themselves into any branch of the armed forces an that very much includes the special forces as well as the positions in the combat roles. Ireland is one amongst very few countries who believe in gender equality in the armed forces.
Lieutenant Elaine Moloney became the first female marine engineer who served in the Irish Naval Service.
8. Indonesia

Indonesia is amongst those countries who recently made reforms in the armed forces in favor of female enrolment in the military and other defence forces. In 2008, the female soldiers got permission to get training as officers for the very first time in the history of the Indonesian Army.
However, there are many hurdles for women to join the army and get the full acceptance. Females are demanded to go through a virginity test before enrolling and many human rights groups feel that this practice is too invasive but higher officials believe it is necessary.
