As flights approach the runway, the city appears to emerge like a mirage from a desert. At night, the lighted Las Vegas strip is spectacular.
It is located in Paradise, about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of downtown Las Vegas. In 1997, the airport introduced Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE), becoming the first airport in the country to do so.
Wilkins Runway, Antarctica

The only runway in frozen Antarctica is a sight to behold, but only scientists see it because it's not used for tourists.
Wilkins Runway is a single runway aerodrome operated by Australia, located on upper glacier of the ice sheet Preston Heath, Budd Coast, Wilkes Land on the continent of Antarctica, but 40 km (25 mi) southeast of the actual coast. It is named after Sir Hubert Wilkins, a pioneer of Antarctic aviation and exploration.
