Try These 11 Things To Keep Yourself Calm

No one has ever calmed down by being told to calm down. Our stressful 9-5 jobs anyway make it next to impossible for us to be at peace. But assuming that people are always looking for ways to de-stress themselves, here are some ways you can #staycalm and not lose your shit.

1. Listen to music. It’s the best remedy.

Imagine yourself in the middle of your work station where everything basically yells ‘chaos’. Instead of being bothered by inconsiderate colleagues who think coming to work is like going to a sabzi mandi, you can find solace in music. Plug in your earphones and enter your zen mode.

2. Eat. It’s always a good idea.

It is a known fact that eating releases dopamine which is basically a feel-good chemical for your brain. So, if you’re ever stressed out because people around you have no chill, bite into that burger and let the relaxation kick in.

3. Ignorance is bliss. Try it.

If you’re stuck in a situation where you can neither eat or listen to music to calm down, follow the age-old advice and take the road leading to ignorance. Sometimes, switching on your selective hearing and not entertaining stress induced by others can do wonders for your mental peace.

4. Take a walk. You’ll need it.

Sometimes the best way to avoid a stressful situation is to walk away from it. I mean, fresh air is always a good idea, unless you live in Delhi. So, don’t be hesitant about getting up and ditching people who force you to share their stress.

5. Swipe left and right. It’s an easy distraction.

Distracting yourself with the idea of potential coitus will destress anyone in a few minutes. So, if you ever face a not-so-chill situation, you can always use the distracting luxuries the millennial generation has provided us with (dating apps) and think about all the other things you could be doing instead of being stressed out.

6. Use social media. Double tapping is kinda relaxing.

If you live in the world of Instagram stories and hashtags just like the rest of us, then you know the escape to calmness is in your pocket. We aren’t suggesting that you come off as rude and use your phone when interacting with others. But if you’re ever in a situation where you cannot contribute in any way and stress is knocking on your door, you can always choose to laugh at memes and watch cat videos.
