The heroine of this movie was none other than Babita who had already worked in a number of successful films before. Randhir had a crush on Babita since his school days, so he could not think of any other heroine when he was making his very first film. Upon its release, ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’ went on to be moderately successful at the box office. However, Randhir and Babita were appreciated everywhere because of their on-screen chemistry. Right after the release of this film, both decided to marry. Some family members were against this marriage, but they bowed down to their children’s decision.

But love was bound to happen and it finally happened and they married each other in 1980. Before getting married they both converted to Islam since Dharmendra’s first wife Prakash Kaur was not willing to get divorced.
