This can be called as the marriage of opposites. Ajay is an unpretentious, introvert and unassuming guy whereas Kajol is extrovert, fearless and happy-go-lucky. She has always worn her heart on her sleeve. Their wedding took place on 24 February 1999 in Mumbai and it was a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony with only family and close friends being present. When the news of them marrying broke out in the media, people said that this won't last long because the couple has contrasting personalities. However, they defied all the speculations and got married after the courtship of four long years. It has been a decade since they tied the knot and their bond seems to be only getting stronger with every passing day.
Ajay and Kajol started to see each other while they were working on ‘Gundaraj’ in 1995. They have worked together in 7 films till date and most of these films were pretty successful and that established them as one of the ‘most successful movies couples’ in Hindi cinema’s history. Kajol, along with her late aunt and actress Nutan holds the record for winning most Best Actress award at Filmfare and with five of them she took a break from movies to start a family.
Nysa, their daughter, was born in 2003. Kajol made a powerful comeback to films after 2001 with ‘Fanaa’, a romantic thriller in 2006 opposite Aamir Khan and continuing to work infrequently till date. Ajay Devgn and Kajol have faced a lot of storms in their personal lives, but they managed to handle each problem with much aplomb and came out stronger than ever.
5. RISHI KAPOOR & NEETU SINGH
Rishi Kapoor, the romantic hero and who danced like a dream was a heartthrob of many girls in his time. He broke hearts of a number of girls before he actually fell in love with gorgeous Neetu Singh.Rishi was very popular and had a huge fan following. Heroines used to be very keen on getting an opportunity to just work with him. So, when he declared his love for bubbly Neetu, breaking of million hearts was very obvious. Neetu had acted in a few Hindi films as a child artist before starting her career and was very new in the industry when Rishi proposed to her. She was just 14 years old but accepted his proposal. However, Neetu’s mother was not very pleased with the relationship, so whenever Neetu and Rishi went out on dinner dates, her mother used to send her cousin along with them.
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh came together for the first time in a film ‘Zehreela Insaan’ in 1974. The audience loved the romance and the chemistry between these two stars. But it was no love at first sight for them. Apart from having great looks and acting skills, Rishi was quite popular as a prankster on the sets. Rishi loved teasing Neetu to his heart’s content on the sets of ‘Zehreela Insaan’. Right after she would be done with her makeup for the shoot, he would come and smudge her face with kajal.
But instead of being angry on him and breaking all ties, she fell for the guy who used to do everything that irritated her. They got married on 22 January 1980. Neetu being the sole breadwinner in her family did not want to leave her single mother after marriage without any support, so she decided to invite Rishi to stay with both of them after they tied the knot. Soon after they had two kids. A daughter, Riddima, and son Ranbir. Today both of them are doing well in their careers.
