The 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards(IIFA) took New York City by a storm as the entire Bollywood industry was dressed up in their best attires, displaying their royal taste in fashion.

The event was a glamorous round up of the year as stars make their presence known at the starry night.

Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt walked away with the big honours for their film ‘Udta Punjab’, while Taapsee Pannu, Varun Dhawan, Disha Patani, Diljit Dosanjh went home with their prestigious awards. Films like ‘Neerja’, ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Pink’ also bag top honours.

Best Performance in a Negative Role: Jim Sarbh (Neerja)
Woman of the Year: Taapsee Pannu
Best Music Direction: Pritam (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
Best Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya – Channa Mereya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)
Style Icon of the Year: Alia Bhatt
Best Female Playback Singer: Kanika Kapoor (Udta Punjab) and Tulsi Kumar (Airlift)
Best Male Playback Singer: Amit Mishra (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)

Hosted by Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and producer-director Karan Johar, the ceremony, which celebrates the glorious achievements of Bollywood in different cities across the world, is a three-day extravaganza that started from July 13 and the main event took place at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New York.

The 18th edition of the Awards event kicked off with a fashion show and music in Times Square. On Friday, a concert was held honouring A.R. Rahman, the music composer who won two Oscars in 2009 for “Slumdog Millionaire.” and a green carpet parade of Bollywood stars in their finery was cancelled at the last minute owing to the poor weather.

Besides Bollywood celebrities, several renowned Hollywood stars, including Angelina Jolie, action star Jackie Chan, Australian pop-star Kylie Minogue, British actor Colin Firth, Hollywood stars Hillary Swank, Kevin Spacey and John Travolta, have also been a part of IIFA in the past.
