Probably one of the few films that proved Shah Rukh Khan’s mettle as an actor, this Yash Chopra marvel was about an Indian boy and a Pakistani girl who fall in love, only to be destined to wait for each other for 22 years, and that too in each other’s motherland. The movie showed how similar Pakistanis are to Indians, and how we both have good and bad on both sides of the border.

The National Award winning movie talked of the common love for movies that people on both sides of the border enjoy. It was about Sunny (Sharib Hashmi), an aspiring actor from India who gets kidnapped and is held hostage in a Pakistani’s house, where he sees the DVDs of several Hindi films, hinting at the love for Bollywood that Pakistanis have.
