Nobody in India makes masala action movies better than Rohit Shetty. And nobody plays an eccentric man better than Ranveer Singh. Now, Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty have gotten together to bring us a masala action movie revolving around a cop. Though we do not yet know about the script of the movie, we do know through the first poster that Ranveer Singh plays a cop who goes by the name of Sangram Bhalerao. It is anybody’s guess at this stage that he is called ‘Simmba’ lovingly or grudgingly. The movie is co-produced by Dharma Productions, Reliance Entertainment and Shetty’s company, RS Picturez. According to the industry buzz, Kajal Agarwal is being slated to play the lead opposite Ranveer Singh in the movie. The movie has an entire year for its release as 28th December, 2018 has been confirmed as its release date.
Ranveer Singh has had a stellar career thus far. He has the right mix of mass movies along with content based movies in his repertoire. Though 2017 was meant to be huge for him with his portrayal of the eccentric Alauddin Khilji in Padmavati, the release was derailed by a few inane right wing groups who for some weird reason believed that a romantic liaison between Khilji and Padmavati was showcased in the movie. Bounties galore were placed to injure Ranveer Singh along with other bounties to behead the lead actress Deepika Padukone, and the director, Bhansali. He has 1 other movie coming up in 2018 which has been named as Gully Boy. Zoya Akhtar is the director and he stars opposite Alia Bhatt.
Rohit Shetty had a huge 2017 garnering runaway commercial success in his only release of the year, Golmaal Again. The movie became the highest grossing Diwali release of all time along with being the first blockbuster of the year!

Nobody generates the type of furore with an upcoming release than the great Rajnikanth. The legendary actor has been able to carve out quite a niche for himself in the Indian cinema. His stature and image perceived by his die-hard fans precedes anything that has been witnessed so far. 2.0 is the upcoming sequel to the 2010 science fiction movie, Enthiran or as hindi viewers know it, Robot. In Robot, the story revolved around the struggle of scientist Vaseegaran (played by Rajinikanth) to control his creation, a robot named Chitti (also played by Rajinikanth), after Chitti’s software is upgraded to give it the ability to understand and show human emotions. The project almost fails when the robot falls in love with the Rajnikath’s girlfriend (Rai), and is deceived by Bohra (Denzongpa), a rival scientist, into going on a killing spree.
2,0 like Robot is directed by S. Shankar. It would be the first and only Indian movie so far to be directly shot in 3D. Rajnikath would be repeating the role of Vaseegaran and Chitti. Akshay Kumar and the Brit actress Amy Jackson have also been roped in for the movie. The budget for the movie has been assessed at a monstrous Rs. 450 crore which would essentially make it the most expensive Indian movie ever. The movie has been shot concurrently in Hindi and Tamil. A dubbed Telugu version would also be released along with the Hindi and Tamil versions. A.R Rahman was retained for the background score after providing the music for the first instalment, Robot.
It is rumoured that Arnold Schwarzenegger had even accepted a role in 2.0 for a record signing fee. But the producers later decided against offering him a role. Neil Nitin Mukesh and Hrithik Roshan were then offered the role as well. Akshay Kumar was finally chosen to play the role. The highly anticipated movie is scheduled to be released in April 2018.
